Project Description

As part of the Antananarivo Water Supply Master Plan, large-scale Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) and Resettlement Plans (RPs) were required for the implementation of 14 priority water infrastructure projects. These studies aimed to ensure compliance with national regulations and international environmental and social standards while facilitating the issuance of environmental permits and supporting the sustainable development of critical water supply infrastructure for Greater Antananarivo.

• Conducted Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) for 14 priority water infrastructure project
• Prepared Resettlement Plans (RPs) involving both temporary and permanent displacement, including methodology development, socio-economic surveys, data collection covering over 8,000 Project-Affected Persons (PAPs) across more than 10 communities, and the design of compensation and livelihood restoration measures.
• Organized and facilitated 64 public consultation and stakeholder engagement sessions with affected communities and local authorities.
• Provided strategic and operational support to the Project Management Unit (PMU), working closely with national stakeholders to streamline environmental approval processes and accelerate the acquisition of environmental permits.
