Project Description
The New National Urban Renewal Programme (NPNRU) was launched in 2014 by the French National Urban Renewal Agency (ANRU).
At the national level, the programme aims to transform more than 450 priority neighbourhoods through investments in housing, public facilities and urban infrastructure, with the objective of promoting social diversity and improving living conditions.
In Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni, the NPNRU includes several urban restructuring operations across multiple sites, while forming part of a broader urban development vision alongside other initiatives such as Action Cœur de Ville and the Operation of National Interest (OIN). Strong coordination between these programmes is essential to ensure coherent urban transformation and effective citizen engagement.
Public consultation plays a key role in informing affected populations, strengthening transparency and encouraging local participation in urban development projects.s.
